Alvan and Larry, two loyal members of our Green Nosh Group on Cape Cod cook together twice a week. On Monday they create desserts and main meals are prepared on Wednesday. Their wives are blessed beyond belief. To have two guys stock their frig and freezers is a dream.

20 apples, peeled and cored (Use a variety of apples - Granny Smith, Cortland, Fuji, etc.)
Topping Ingredients, and to mix with apples:

2 oz dates, pureed in a blender with a little water
1/2 cup flour (can use whole wheat pastry, whole wheat or spelt for gluten free)
1/2 cup oatmeal
1 tsp cinnamon
1/4 tsp allspice
1/4 tsp nutmeg


Heat oven to 350.

Place apple slices in large bowl. Sprinkle a little lemon juice over apples to keep them from browning.
Combine topping ingredients in bowl until crumbles are formed.
Mix some of the topping ingredients with the apples, and mix well.
Put the apples in a glass baking dish. Sprinkle the rest of the topping over the apples.
Bake in 350 oven for 40-45 minutes.
