• 1/4 cup maple syrup
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 1 T liquid smoke
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1 8 oz package tempeh

Cut rectangle of tempeh in half, and then slice tempeh into thin strips.

Mix liquid ingredients and smoked paprika in medium size bowl. Stir well.

Add the tempeh strips and either place in refrigerator overnight or 1/2 hour in frig to marinate. (Best if you have the time to allow for sufficient marinating.)

When ready to cook, preheat non-stick pan on medium heat, then remove tempeh from marinade, and brown strips on both sides till nicely browned. 

Add a bit of marinade into pan to keep tempeh bacon from burning, as needed. 

Tempeh bacon is great in BLT sandwiches. I like to crumble the tempeh and add to my tofu scrambles. Very tasty and low in fat and no cholesterol, not to mention void of nitrates, antibiotics and other dastardly ingredients in bacon.
